26 NYC Marathon Photos That Will Make Your Heart Sing
Running can be an extremely lonely activity. I've spent the majority of the past 2 years running by myself. My favorite part about running an endurance race is that even if you don't friends or family along the course cheering for you, you never feel alone. Spectators help you pull through if you are having a really shitty race or they make you smile wider if you are having the time of your life. It really means so much to us to have the energy and support from complete strangers along the way.
The spectators of the NYC Marathon were out of control. Words fail to describe what it was like to have people scream your name for over four hours. I can't even tell you what it felt like towards the end of the race, when I was fatigued and tired, to hear, "GO KELLY!" "YOU GOT THIS KELLY!" "YOU'RE AMAZING KELLY!" And then to have my family there? I was so excited to see them. The moment when you FINALLY find your family or your friends during a race is magic. I've run over a dozen 10ks, half or full marathons and I've had people come out to cheer for me at maybe 4. It's so special to have people along the course for you. They have these signs for you and they have been waiting for hours just to watch you run by or grab a quick hug. And yet there they are, waiting patiently, happy and excited to support you.
I was scrolling through the #TCSNYCMarathon hashtag and kept finding these incredible pictures of runners embracing their families and I HAD to share them. So grab some tissues because here are 26 beautiful pictures of NYC Marathon Runners and their wonderful friends and families who came out to support them.
Even puppies came out for their mommy's and daddy's!
And I mean come on, I'm obsessed with this. YAS to this. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.
And the moment I see my family.
Ok one more! Because seriously!??!?! SERIOUSLY!?!?!? BRB CRYING MY EYES OUT! CONGRATULATIONS. What an amazing end to an amazing day.
I still can't get over how incredible this past Sunday was. It's so funny, running has this terrible rap. People really, really hate running. I really, really hated running! I never imagined in a million years I would willingly run a marathon. The first four weeks are torture. They really suck. But once you hop that hurdle, that's when the fun starts. Run a 5k, run a 10k, run a half marathon or run a full marathon. I dare you. I promise it will be one of the most incredible days of your life. Until tomorrow friends, #RunSelfieRepeat.
