8 Best Parts About Running In NYC
1. Our Bridges
It doesn’t matter which bridge you’re running, they’re all equally incredible! Not even the tourists who jump in your way can take away from their splendor! If you’re in New York, you have to run from Brooklyn Bridge Park into Manhattan.
2. Central Park
If only there was a six miles that looped an incredible park in that concrete jungle…OH WAIT! THERE IS! New York may be flat but when it comes time for training Central Park is where it’s at. From Cat and Harlem Hills to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, Central Park is my favorite place to run in NYC.
3. The West Side Highway
Looking for an insanely beautiful running path that’s on the Hudson River, free of stoplights, totally flat and that you can run 1-10 miles on? Then run along Manhattans West Side!
4. The Mid Run Entertainment
Where else can you get break dancers, bubble blowers and live music during a run? This is the only time you’ll hear the words “show time” and not cringe.
5. Our Races!
The best part about New York City is that there is some sort of race almost every single weekend! There’s a reason the New York City Marathon is one of the most famous marathons in the world, NEW YORK TURNS UP! You spend 26.2 miles running through our incredible 5 Burroughs while being cheered for by hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers. The energy of our big races is unparalleled! Whether you’re running the Airbnb Brooklyn Half Marathon, the New York City Half Marathon, The New York City Marathon or the hundreds of other races you’re bound to have an amazing time.
6. The Post Run Treats
Pizza. Bagels. Ice Cream. Burgers. It’s all right there steps away.
7. The Bathrooms!
We’ve all been there, you are mid run when disaster strikes and you're miles away from a bathroom. In New York you’re never more than a quarter mile from the nearest porcelain thrown and that my friends is why I live here.
8. The Other Runners.
The best part about running is the community and in New York, you’re rarely alone! From the dozens of running groups and teams to just passing one another when you’re out and about, there’s safety in numbers and in New York City runners are everywhere!
New York is a wonderful, wonderful place to be a runner. Whether you live here are want to visit, one of the best ways to see our city is to run it! Until next time, #RunSelfieRepeat.
