How to Take the Perfect Running Selfie

Here's the deal, snapping a selfie while running is no easy feat and it's even harder to stay out of peoples way. So here is your Official Guide to Race Day Selfies.

1. TRY IT OUT BEFORE YOU RACE! Race day is not the day to drop your phone while trying to capture the perfect action shot. Train your selfie taking abilities. Play around with different angles-I recommend using your left hand and the volume up (+) button on the side of an iphone. Work quickly! Time is of the essence, there is LITERALLY A CLOCK TICKING. RUN! RUNNNN!

2. KEEP YOUR CAPTIONS SHORT AND SWEET! Establish your hashtag before the race starts. While your hauled in your coral, doing your pre-race dance, grab an action shot. Don't forget to tag #RunSelfieRepeat & whatever your official race hashtag is (Ex: #NycHalf #RunDisney #RocknRollSD). Post the picture to instagram. This way instagram will recognize the hashtag so while you run, all you need to do is type # and the first letter and it will populate for you. DON'T LET THOSE CAPTIONS SLOW YOU DOWN. LEAVE PERFECTION AT THE DOOR, TYPE SOMETHING SILLY AND HOPE FOR THE BEST! YOU CAN DO THIS!

3. DO NOT TRY TO LOOK CUTE. The point of the running selfie is to appear 1-like you just won who wants to be a millionaire (back in 2001 when it was a real accomplishment), 2-super-hero esque, 3-like you're Rocky Balboa climbing those stairs to Eye of the Tiger, 4-like you're on the brink of exhaustion, 5-as if Godzilla is chasing you, 6-like you just won the lottery, 7-as if your photo bombing a photo with Brad Pitt and your real proud of it, 8-like you ran into Buddy the Elf on your way to see Santa at Macys, 9-like you're sweating gold, 10-as if Betty Crocker lived next door and instead of borrowing sugar, you can borrow cupcakes anytime you want, 11-as if you're wandering through the Sahara desert and may never find civilization, 12-like you woke up on Christmas morning to a dozen kittens and puppies, 13.1-like you finally got that Pony you hoped, wished and dreamed of. SO sport the thumbs up, be goofy and remember if it made you laugh you've already won.

4. HAVE EYES IN THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD! The selfie is hilarious and a lot of fun, but what is not hilarious and absolutely no fun is if you get in the way of someone who's gunning for a personal record. Try to look around you before and after you snap the selfie. Stay out of the way and run in a straight line while you type the caption. Remember to be courteous to your fellow runners. It's all fun and games until you drop your phone, trip or cause a collision. Remember, only you can prevent race day set backs.

Otherwise, run like the wind! I can't wait to see what you all come up with! Remember to share them on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #RunSelfieRepeat! Happy Runfie-ing! Until tomorrow, #RunSelfieRepeat.
