The Secret To Finishing A Half Marathon When You're Struggling
Why do bad runs happen to good people? That my friends is one of life's greatest unanswered questions. Deny it all you want but sometimes race day isn't all rainbows, effortless miles, and smiling selfies. Sometimes your legs feel like lead, your watch won't get a GPS signal, you spill Gatorade all over yourself at mile 2, you chafe in places you didn't know could chafe, and time moves in slow motion.
I'm not going to say that the Airbnb Brooklyn Half was a really bad run but it definitely wasn't easy. My legs felt like lead from the moment we crossed the starting line and I was 89% positive they added 26 extra miles onto Ocean Parkway (can someone double check on that?). Here's what you do when running 3.1 miles to the finish line feels impossible, you convince everyone around you to make a music video and just DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!
BOOM. Our bad run immediately turned into a hilarious fun run! Sometimes you just have to let the power of Justin Timberlake get you through. JT never fails.
Until next time, #RunSelfieRepeat.
