I Qualified For Boston and Made My Impossible, Possible!

When I was 10 years old, I came last at our school's 800m race held on sports day.  I know someone has to but I was mortified, especially as I was the overweight kid in class.

I resigned myself to thinking I was never going to excel at anything. When I turned 45, I bought a book by a Spanish cupcake blogger who had become a celebrity and had caught the running bug. She gave tips on how to start running and I decided to start that very day. This was the 17th March 2015. I couldn’t run more than 1 minute without stopping, but I persevered and by May I registered for my first 10km.

I got such a high that I kept training and a half marathon followed in 2016, followed by a marathon. A friend recommended Kelly’s blog and I thought you know what, it's BQ or Bust for me too! 3 years later,  I completed my 5th marathon, Chicago, at age 48 and I BQ’ed with 3 hours 48 minutes, with 6 minutes to spare! (And yes, with the new qualifying time.)

I have never felt so proud in my life. It showed me that hard work and believing in myself can make the impossible I’M POSSIBLE.
