Welcome to Boobgate boys and girls. Boys, brace yourselves, we are talking boobs. Boobs throw a giant monkey wrench into the running machine of life. I am sick and tired of reading articles titled "The 10 Best Sports Bras" when every single one of those sports bras works just as poorly as the next. Now I am going to get really personal with you all, I have big boobs. I am in the double letters and on the reg I wear 2 sports bras.
This was the first Summer that it actually became a huge issue for me. Normally I double up and it's not a big deal. But because of the heat and humidity I have been RUBBED RAW and I now have some intense battle scars. I was in my best friends wedding a few weeks ago and everyone kept asking me if I had hickeys all over my chest. NO! THEY AREN'T HICKEYS I AM TRAINING FOR A MARATHON AND I CAN'T FIND A SPORTS BRA THAT ISN'T OUT FOR BLOOD!
A few weeks ago I sent a message out into the universe asking for the best sports bras. I bought the two sports bras with the most positive feedback and tried them out. I tried Moving Comfort's "Juno" Sports Bra and Wacoal's '855170' Underwire Sports Bra. Out of the two I liked the Moving Comfort Juno Sports Bra a million times more but it still chafed and made me bleed. The Wacoal bra felt more like a bra and there was bounce. When I run I want 0 bounce! NONE!
I like knowing those bad boys AREN'T going to move. It may be because I am used to wearing two sports bras and feeling a bit of pressure but I didn't like it. I didn't like it one bit! Here are their pro's and cons.
Moving Comfort "Juno" Sports Bra
- Didn't start to chafe until the 10th mile
- Felt secure
- Covers a large area, larger than most bras which I liked.
- Has really thick straps
- Has to be smoothed out or else the lining bunches.
Wacoal '855170' Underwire Sports Bra
- Feels like a bra
- Makes your boobs look like boobs
- Didn't feel incredibly supportive
- Has movement
- Is very thin-not ideal for cold weather. (wink wink, nudge nudge.)
If you are in the same boat as I am, avoiding chafing is a top priority. The lovely women on twitter gave me a tip I NEVER thought to employ, use moleskin! Normally I only use chafing cream and it's still not good enough. Especially during longer runs. But I tried moleskin last week and it was AMAZING! Thanks for the tip ladies!
Next up I am trying Unfussy Fit by KSwiss and LuluLemon's Ta Ta Tamer II. Stay tuned for the results y'all. I am going to find a bra that doesn't eat me alive if it kills me! (Which it actually might.) Let me know if you have a sports bra or tip you love. Comment below or email me RunSelfieRepeat@gmail.com or tweet me @KellyKKRoberts. Until tomorrow, #RunSelfieRepeat.
