The Christmas Pinata

HO HO HO , happy 27th of December friends! The Christmas train is still chugging along here in San Diego and boy are we having a ridiculous time. The weather here is a blissful sunny mid sixty degrees and I haven’t gotten out of my running clothes, done my hair, or put make up on in days. I’m in full vacation mode and I don’t care who knows it. (Don’t worry I’m showering daily.)

Yesterday when I left you we did what is arguably everyone’s favorite event of Christmas, the Christmas Pinata. This year was especially strange because my father decided to chop down our huge, beautiful jacaranda tree that lived in our front yard for 20 something years. With no trees on our property besides palm trees we ended up hanging the giant monstrosity on our overhang. The piñata was industrial strength and we were hesitant to use the bat so close to our sliding glass door. It took only one swing to veto the bat and instead opt for use of our fists and feet to break the Christmas monster. We were out there swinging and kicking for quite some time. Turns out we aren’t as tough as we thought we were.

We finally gave up on the blindfold and went for one shot each when the piñata gave way to the $1 bills and quarters. Santa knows how to make it rain and hail and boy are my college loans thankful. Here’s an abridged version for your viewing pleasure, and no I didn’t make contact with the piñata once. I know, it’s slightly pathetic.

After the piñata we went to see ‘Into the Woods’ which was MAGICAL. Meryl Streep is dazzling. I’ve seen this play butchered by high school students probably a billion times so I was hesitant to go but I’m so glad we went. I love Sondheim. I really truly love what the story has to say to our world. A must see in my opinion. ALTHOUGH I sat next to a teenage boy who was the loudest mouth breather. I thought I was going to lose my mind or smother him with twizzlers. Honest to God, it was worse than nails on a chalkboard. I wanted to just shove an entire package of Sour Patch into his mouth and scream, “BREATH THROUGH YOUR NOSE! MY GOD!”

After the movie we came home and finished our SECOND 1000 piece Christmas puzzle. I am still adjusting to the time difference (AKA I’m a lame 25 year old who loves an early bedtime) and I put myself into bed ridiculously early. I only do it so I can get up early and go on fun adventures! This morning my Aunt Kathleen, my cousin William, and I went for an early hike at Torrey Pines State Park. It’s one of my favorite places in San Diego to go explore. The views of the ocean are incredible and there are so many different trails to putz  around on. It was also nice to just spend time trapped on a hike together.

Now we are getting ready for our next huge party which is Mexican Dinner night! Tonight’s the night that we invite all sorts of friends and family over to enjoy some shenanigans and tacos. The fiesta kicks off in just a few hours and my cousin and I are about to take off now for a quick run before we continue to stuff our faces with tacos and chocolate. I hope your holiday has been lovely friends. Tomorrow we are headed to the San Diego Zoo which is always hilarious. Until tomorrow, #RunSelfieRepeat.
