I Made My Impossible Possible and Paced Others To Their Personal Best
After 10+ years of doing races on and off, I wanted to pace a race to see what it was like from the other side and to help people reach their goals like so many pacers have done for me. I had signed up with Beast Pacing years ago but was always too intimidated to commit to pacing a race.
I finally committed to the Hot Chocolate 15k in Indianapolis in March, only to have it canceled due to snow.
Luckily I had another opportunity for the HC15k in Columbus in November, just in time to meet my goal before the end of the year. For the first mile I was running solo and wondered if anyone was “using” me to pace. Then a woman came up to me during mile 2 and we ran together the rest of the race. She said she couldn’t have done it without me (which she totally could have since she was a total badass but it was still so nice to hear!).
