Kelly Roberts
Kelly Roberts is the self proclaimed former President of the “I F*cking Hate Running Club” and founder of the Badass Lady Gang. Fueled by feminist rage and dance parties, Kelly created the BALG when she grew tired of reading thousands of emails from women asking her where they can find badass women to run with. They wrote to Kelly that they were too slow for their local running club or were told that they wouldn’t be left behind, only to then be left behind.
Kelly spends her days in Brooklyn, New York enjoying live theater and working on how she can help women connect, ditch diet culture, and have more fun moving together.
Favorite Part about BALG
I love that we truly are accessible to all athletic levels. I love that the Badass Lady Gang is community first and a fun run or workout second. We don’t care what you’re training for (or if you’re training for anything). We don’t care if this is your first run ever or your millionth run. We’re just excited to get to know you.
While I was involved in just about every extracurricular and competitive sport growing up, my love of running really took flight when I moved to New York City in 2014. Running became a way for me to explore my new city, soak up the scenery, and plant my roots. My relationship with running was not always a healthy one, but as I did the work to develop a healthy relationship with it, running helped me heal and discover more about myself than I imagined possible; it allowed me to feel and be free as I uncovered my strength, discovered my peace, and became empowered in my body. Most importantly, running has allowed me the opportunity to connect with myself, my body, this incredible community, and this beautiful city. Bringing the BALG to life in NYC has been such an incredible opportunity, and I'm excited to continue to build this uplifting community with my partner in crime, Kelly!
