Maureen Burke

Hi, I’m Maureen! I grew up in the Poconos but moved to NEPA for college and never left.  I was a multi-sport athlete through high school who learned it’s hard to stay conditioned for one sport without the others in college. Running became a means to an end for me-something necessary to build and maintain my endurance to play another sport. After college, it was a huge adjustment to learn to work-out for myself without the accountability of teammates or the goals of a new season. A few years after graduation, I set out to find enjoyment in running. The journey eventually became more love than hate in the love-hate relationship I developed with running and I began running 5ks…for fun…Who was I? The next thing I knew, I was training for half marathons and had PRs to chase. After almost 20 years in Scranton, I moved to a new city in NEPA which led me to find Badass Lady Gang NEPA in the summer of 2021 and I regained that accountability and support system of having a team again!

Favorite Part about BALG
The community. The camaraderie among the ladies is so special. Whether it’s running related or not, there’s a group of strong women in your corner ready and willing to support and celebrate you in every aspect of life.

Megan Hannon

Hi, I’m Megan! I was born and raised in NEPA and then lived in Massachusetts for about 6 years total after I graduated college. I came back home to NEPA summer 2019 and found Badass Lady Gang NEPA November 2019 and the rest is history. My running journey started in 2011 and has evolved and grown over the years. Running has helped me to learn so much about myself and find strengths I didn’t know I had and never thought possible. I even did my first 2 sprint triathlons in summer 2022 to challenge myself in a different way. If someone told me 20 years ago I would end up running and doing triathlons because I find it fun, I would’ve said they were 100% lying. But I love the strength, joy, fun and community they bring to my life.

Favorite Part about BALG
The friendships. The community. The fun. The joy. The support. That all paces and abilities are truly included, welcome and celebrated. But truly, the friendships I’ve gained from BALG are my absolute favorite part.
